A typical new furnace that uses natural gas or propane and has high efficiency costs between $5,000 and $7,000+ in Ontario. This includes standard installation by a licensed and insured company, as well as a minimum of one year warranty and all necessary licenses. The price of a new furnace varies depending on four factors: - Environmental factors, such as how energy efficient, humidified, and filtered the air is, and what options are available to enhance comfort. - Personal factors, such as whether you want extra warranties, service plans, or guarantees. - Technical factors, such as the size and layout of your home, the number of floors, the existing ductwork, and the heat output. - Code factors, such as the safety, licensing, and building codes that apply. When the thermostat detects that the temperature has fallen below a certain point, the furnace turns on. The ventor motor checks the venting for any blockages, as indicated by the pressure switch. The ignitor then lights up the burners in the furnace combustion chamber and creates heat. The heat moves to the primary heat exchanger, which warms up the air that passes through the furnace. The combustion gases go through a secondary heat exchanger to get more heat out of them. The blower motor sends the heated air through the plenum and into the house through the registers. The combustion gases, which contain carbon monoxide, are vented safely to the outside from the furnace. Fresh air from outside is drawn into the burn chamber to make the burn more efficient Any cool air remaining in the house is brought into the furnace to be heated.
Only a licensed, trained professional must install or repair your furnace
A furnace usually lasts for 15 years, but other factors can affect when you need a new one. Your furnace might not last as long if it breaks down a lot, if it was installed poorly, or if it doesn’t fit your home’s heating needs.
The furnace size you need depends on many factors, such as how big and old your home is, how much air flow and insulation you have, and how many windows and doors you have. To find the right furnace size for your needs, you should have a professional come to your home and do an assessment to measure heat loss and air flow. If your furnace is too big or too small, it might not last long and it might make your utility bills higher because your home is not heating up properly.
Almost all furnace manufacturers offer between 10 to 12 years on parts and one year labor warranty plus lifetime heat exchanger warranty with online registration. Additionally extended labor warranty is available for an extra cost
